What STIs can't you test for?

STI home testing can't test for:

Genital warts can only be diagnosed through a physical examination. Syphilis, HIV and hepatitis should be tested for with a blood test administered by a doctor.

How does (STD) STI home testing work?

STI home tests are very simple to use. Place an order online, and you'll receive a test kit in the post. An STI home test kit will contain an instruction sheet, a request form, a specimen tube, a transport cup and a pre-paid return envelope.

Take the test

All you have to do is urinate in the specimen tube. Fasten the cap and then place it back in the transport cup. Check the information on the test form is correct, enter your sample date and seal the form and the transport cup in the pre-paid envelope. Then just place the envelope in the post.

Laboratory completes your test

Your STI home test will be sent to a leading clinical test specialist, The Doctors Laboratory, based in London. Once they receive it, they will test the urine sample you've provided and return the results within two to three days, or a week in the case of a Full STI Screen test.

Find out your results

Once your results are ready, we'll send you an email. Follow the link in the email and it'll take you to our secure member's area on LabsDirect. Alternatively you can select the Member's Login link on our home page. Enter your email and password to view your test results.

What do I do if I test positive?

Don't worry if your test result is positive. Most STIs can be easily treated, within one week, with a course of antibiotics. If you do have a positive result, we will help you to find the right treatment, which will be prescribed by a registered doctor.
